How to know AdBlue® almost dry?

In cars, the central control display will display warnings when the AdBlue® (DEF) solution level in the tank falls below the allowable threshold:

• First warning: Indicates that the AdBlue® level is low and needs to be topped up soon.

• Second warning: A yellow warning symbol appears with a message requesting more solution.

• Third warning: The system starts counting down the distance remaining before the AdBlue® tank is completely empty. If it is not refilled, the vehicle will not be able to restart.

• Final warning: A red warning symbol appears, indicating that the tank is empty and the vehicle will not be able to start until AdBlue® is refilled.

FAQs

+ No, you should not drive when the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light is on. The DPF light indicates a problem with the filter system, which can lead to increased emissions and reduced engine performance. Additionally, it may cause the engine to overheat and potentially result in further damage.

+ If the DPF warning light is on, the most important thing to do is to have the system checked and repaired as soon as possible. The cause of the issue could be something as simple as a clogged filter, or it might be a more serious problem such as a faulty sensor or a malfunctioning component.

+ The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a crucial component of the vehicle's exhaust system, designed to reduce the amount of soot and other particles emitted from the engine. Over time, the DPF can become clogged with these particles, which may lead to engine performance issues and even damage the filter itself. However, there are several ways to clean the DPF to help maintain your vehicle’s performance.

+ The most common method for cleaning the DPF is through a process called regeneration. Regeneration is an engine-controlled process initiated by the ECU, where the engine runs at a high temperature to burn off the particles trapped in the filter. This process is usually performed automatically by the vehicle, but it can also be triggered manually in some cases.

+ Another way to clean the DPF is through a process called forced regeneration. This method often involves the use of specialized cleaning chemicals to help remove the buildup inside the DPF.

+ Finally, if all the above methods fail, the DPF will need to be replaced. This process involves removing the old filter, cleaning the housing, and then installing a new filter. While this is the most costly solution, it is necessary if the filter is damaged or clogged beyond repair.

+ There are several potential causes for this, including contaminated engine oil, exhaust leaks, a faulty DPF pressure sensor, damaged or short-circuited sensor wiring, or simply the fact that the DPF has reached the end of its lifespan and cannot be restored.

+ In any case, if the DPF warning light continues to stay on, it is important to have your vehicle checked at a garage to determine the exact cause.

+ The answer is YES, as long as you are equipped with some specialized tools and have a certain level of knowledge about car repairs.
